Georgia DOT contractors will start the process of shifting Highway 204 westbound traffic to the mainline utilizing the new bridge over King George Boulevard at 9 p.m. today.

Lane closures will be in effect between Veteran’s Parkway and Pine Grove Road from 9 p.m. today until 4 p.m. Wednesday, when work is expected to be completed. Crews will lay asphalt and stripe to tie in the current travel lanes to the newly constructed mainline over King George Boulevard.

Once the final configuration is in place, motorists will utilize Highway 204 westbound exit ramps to access King George Boulevard. Signage will direct drivers hoping to access King George northbound to take the first exit ramp (current travel lanes) or those going southbound to take the second exit ramp.

Motorists should expect delays during this two-night traffic shift phase and should use an alternate route if possible.
