Ellis Phillips doesn’t know how exactly long Richmond Hill’s most exclusive clubs - aka the Liars Club and DP Club - have been joining forces to feed local public safety officers (and some not so local) at J.F. Gregory Park, but he knows it’s been a while.
“We’ve been doing it a long time,” he said. The event, which takes place when members have caught enough fish and shrimp, has become a stopping ground for everybody from state and local politicians to candidates hoping to become politicians. It also draws a pretty good crowd.
The Feb.13 event, which took club members and their better halves about three-to-four hours to cook, drew an assortment of more than 200 people, including some from Chatham County, who dined on everything from shrimp to banana pudding.
“It’s just a way for us to help give back to all our lawmen and firemen and first responders for all they do for us,” Phillips said.
