Hearings set for vehicular homicide cases

Tam Duc Le, the Pembroke teen charged with vehicular homicide for the deaths of three Bryan County High School students, will be arraigned Dec. 10.

Le was indicted by a grand jury earlier this month. The hearing is scheduled to be held in Bryan County Superior Court in Pembroke.

Le was arrested on Sept. 11 for three counts of first degree vehicular homicide for the March 21 deaths of Laura Cobb and Heather and Melissa Arthur. He is also charged with reckless driving, driving too fast for conditions and weaving over the roadway.

Also facing arraignment on Dec. 10 is John Lynwood Smith, who is charged with vehicular homicide for the Dec. 10 crash that took the life of Bryan County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Sgt. Mike Larson.

Larson was responding to a call when his cruiser hit a car Smith allegedly left parked without lights on the side of Hwy. 280 at the Hwy. 204 intersection. Larson was killed in the wreck.

Smith also is charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, possession of marijuana and weaving.

Also facing arraignment on Dec. 10 are:

-Tyrone Blige, Richmond Hill: arrested on Nov. 6, 2007 and charged with burglarizing a home and molesting a child inside the home during the burglary.

-Herbert Blige, Richmond Hill: arrested June 11 on counts of burglary, rape, aggravated sodomy and cruelty to children.

-Tamara Riggs, Pembroke: arrested July 8, 2006 for entering the Bryan County Sheriff’s Department while possessing a beer and marijuana.

-David Lonon, Amy McGirt and Lorenzo Sellers, Pembroke: all arrested April 6 on charges of taking money from an individual by force.

-Marvin Smokes, Pembroke: arrested July 21, 2006 on charges of burglarizing a home.

-Preston Pilgrim, Richmond Hill: arrested on June 25 on charges of burglarizing a home after breaking a window and busting a door down at a residence. He is also being charged with entering an automobile at the same residence, carrying a concealed weapon and chewing the wiring of the window control panel while in the back seat of a squad car.

-Frank Havlick, Richmond Hill: arrested on Nov. 15, 2006 and charged with being drunk in public, trying to fight a police officer and kicking out the left rear window of a squad car.

-Arniece Capers, county: arrested June 26 on two simple battery charges against an elderly person.

-Ralph Padgett, Richmond Hill: arrested April 2 on charges of grabbing a police officer by the shoulders, throwing him down and biting his hand.

- Christopher Marsh, Richmond Hill: arrested Dec. 28, 2006 after being pulled over for no tail lights and expired registration. Marsh, who is under 21 with a suspended license, then allegedly struck the officer with his vehicle and dragged him. Marsh was also charged with open container.

-Clyde Waller, Ellabell: arrested May 5 for felony obstruction for allegedly resisting arrest and kicking an officer during a traffic stop.

-Michael Fisher and Cecil Sparks, Pembroke: Both were arrested on Jan. 7 and charged with drug possession. Sparks is also charged with the intent to distribute marijuana and ecstasy and the possession of a firearm during a crime.

-Temperance Fennell, Pembroke: arrested Sept. 23, 2006 and charged with manufacturing and selling marijuana.

-Rebecca Jo Ribera, Richmond Hill: arrested on August 15 and charged with making false statements to police about a burglary which allegedly hindered the arrest of burglary suspects.

-James Cannon, Ellabell: arrested on Nov. 13, 2005 and charged with burglarizing a home and threatening to murder two people.

-Dale Chester and Michael Kennedy, Richmond Hill: both were arrested on Oct. 9, 2006 and charged with taking property from two different people by holding guns to their heads.

-Kimvada Young, Richmond Hill: arrested on Jan. 31 and charged with giving false statements to police by allegedly saying she was not inside Dollar General when items were illegally taken from the store.

-Marisha White, Richmond Hill: arrested on Jan. 1 and charged with assaulting someone with a knife.

-Steven Pizzino, Jr., Richmond Hill: arrested on Aug. 23 and charged with two counts of child molestation.

-Nathaniel Holland, Richmond Hill: arrested on Sept. 30 and charged with child molestation.

-Fabian Hammond, Ellabell: arrested on Nov. 24, 2006 and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of receiving stolen property.

-Bobby Behel, Ellabell: arrested on Aug. 16 and charged with taking a vehicle and forging the name on the title.

-Marcos Hernandez, Salomon Ortiz and David Santana, Ellabell: all arrested on Aug. 18 and charged with felony burglary for allegedly busting the window of the Zip N and stealing a case of Budweiser.

-Timothy Sloan, county: arrested on Nov. 6 and charged with rape.

-Jerrell Mock, Richmond Hill: arrested on Aug. 20 and charged with child abuse.

-Alexis Rengel and Juan Velez, Richmond Hill: both arrested on Jan. 24 for allegedly taking money from Arby’s. Rengel is also charged with making false statements by allegedly saying the money disappeared via armed robbery.

-Aaron Vonzell, county: arrested on April 9 and charged with aggravated assault against someone by pointing a handgun at them.

-Tamara Jo Bennett, Richmond Hill: arrested on July 7 and charged with burglarizing Harrison’s Tire.

-Tyshawn Green, county: arrested Jan. 21 and charged with possession of cocaine and a firearm. He is also charged with giving a false name.
