Fowler bashes city center, amphitheater

New Richmond Hill Mayor Harold Fowler didn’t waste much time expressing concerns over the city’s newest facilities.

Fowler, speaking Thursday at the Richmond Hill Rotary Club, started his remarks by blasting both the City Center and amphitheater.

Both were constructed inside J.F. Gregory Park over the last few months.

He said he inherited an $800,000 amphitheater, "that I have yet to find anyone to tell me that it’s usable."

He asked the Rotarians, "as business people, what would you do with this?"

Feedback he got included conferring with local arts groups for ideas and tearing down the brick wall so that the stage can face in either direction.

Fowler said the reported $600,000 price tag was just for construction of the amphitheater.
