Family Promise of Bryan County recently received a charitable donation from Georgia Game Changers as a result of the Seventh Annual Red Hot Chili Pepper 5k.

Georgia Game Changers CFO Ron Elliot presented all race proceeds in the form of a $7,665 check to the Family Promise Board Chairwoman Chris Hasson on August 20.

During the check presentation ceremony, Elliot recognized community members who participated in this year’s run.

“This race is a great opportunity for the community to be involved and to support one of the greatest charities here in Richmond Hill,” said Elliot. “We thank all of our sponsors and everybody for coming out.”

Runners and walkers of all fitness levels and ages came out to Jalapeños in Richmond Hill on July 20 in support of Family Promise of Bryan County’s mission making it the most successful year thus far.

“We had our largest number of runners and sponsors this year and next year we want to double that. Every dime of this goes back into the community and you’re making a difference in the life of a family in Bryan County,” Elliot said.

Hasson expressed gratitude to Georgia Game Changers, race sponsors, and the community for their support and enthusiasm for helping homeless families in Bryan County.

“We really appreciate the ability to partner with Georgia Game Changers, all of our corporate sponsors and, especially, title sponsor Canady’s Heating, Air and Plumbing,” said Hasson. “Without community involvement whether that be through donations or volunteering, Family Promise would not be able to provide the necessary support for homeless families in Bryan County, and this donation will certainly go to good use.”

Family Promise of Bryan County works with host congregations to reduce the number of families who are separated when they fall on difficult times and find themselves homeless. The organization recognizes that poverty is a complex problem that requires a multifaceted response. They respond by integrating educational outreach, smart programming, effective policies, and the hands-on work of thousands of volunteers. They provide food, shelter, and support services for homeless families, and advocate for at-risk families to prevent homelessness.
