The Bryan County Board of Commissioners has approved a contract with BELFOR Property Restoration for the reconstruction of the Hendrix Park gymnasium, which was severely damaged by an EF-4 tornado on April 5, 2022. The decision was made at their meeting held on March 12.

The new gymnasium will feature over 4,000 square-feet of redesigned general use space and an expansive 10,500-square-feet gym area, according to a press release from the county.

"The approval of this contract marks a significant milestone in our journey toward recovery and renewal," said Carter Infinger, Chairman of the Bryan County Board of Commissioners. "We are committed to rebuilding Hendrix Park's gymnasium to even greater standards, providing a safe and welcoming space for our community to come together and thrive."

The rebuild project is estimated to take approximately 18 months to complete, with careful attention to quality and efficiency throughout the construction process. The county will also continue to work closely with insurance providers to negotiate prices and ensure cost controls, maximizing the value of every investment made in this critical infrastructure.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated on the progress of the Hendrix Park gymnasium rebuild through official Bryan County channels and communications.
