SAVANNAH — The 13th annual Comcast Cares Day, the nation’s largest single-day corporate volunteer event, according to a news release, is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, across the country.
The cable provider is encouraging organizations to submit proposals for projects and initiatives that benefit the local community. Comcast has contributed to projects proposed by a variety of local influencers, including public nonprofits, school districts and other community leaders that operate within the Comcast service area.
Interested organizations can go to comcastcaresday2014.com to download the proposal request and determine their eligibility for participation.
In 2013, 377 Savannah-area volunteers were part of more than 85,000 employees, family members, friends and community partners at more than 750 project sites across the country. Local projects included work with Haven Elementary School and Wesley Community Center.
Since 2001, half a million volunteers have given more than 3 million hours of service at more than 5,000 project sites.
