BoE plans to avoid furloughs, tax hike

There will be no furlough days this year for Bryan County teachers – or any other employee – if a tentative budget passed Thursday night goes forward as planned.
There also won’t be a millage rate increase.
The final budget for fiscal 2011, which estimates $49.3 million in revenues and $47.8 million in expenditures, still has to be advertised before it can be passed by the Bryan County Board of Education. Combined, the BoE’s general fund, special revenue funds, debt service fund and capital projects fund will total more than $72 million.
