Authorities look for escapee
Thomas Todd
Thomas Todd
Convicted felon Thomas Patrick Todd, 56, escaped from Bryan County jail around 10 p.m. Sunday night.
Todd was assigned to a work detail of general housekeeping in the jail’s administrative office when he decided to exit the facility, said BCSD Captain Larry Jacobs.
Jacobs approximates that 10 minutes passed before authorities became aware of Todd’s escape.
Jacobs said that Todd is not considered dangerous, although “any escapee certainly has that capability. We wouldn’t have assigned him to the work detail if we initially deemed him to be a volatile inmate.”
Todd was doing time stemming from a felony probation violation. He was placed on probation in 2004 for an aggravated assault charge, and violated his probation on Jan. 14 when he was arrested for carrying a firearm. He had yet to appear in court for the new charges.
At the time of his escape, Todd was wearing an orange jumpsuit and black boots. He has a small build, dark brown hair and blue eyes. If you see Todd, or have any information as to his whereabouts, call the Bryan County Sheriff’s Department at 653-3800.
