Unity in the Community hosted its 6th Annual Christmas Community Giveback at Ashton Apartments in Richmond Hill on Dec. 20.
The group said the purpose is to "bring humanity back into spaces where people feel unseen."
They added, "Our event pauses the rush of life and simply says: You matter here. You are not a burden. Your presence is enough.".
Unity in the Community said it is deeply grateful to the community partners who made this possible:
* Food Lion (Richmond Hill) for hosting toy donation boxes, supporting an outdoor toy drive, and helping coordinate food bags for families
* Bubba’s Bistro and Ameris Bank for welcoming toy donation boxes into their businesses
* Ashton Apartments for once again opening their grounds and supporting this annual tradition
Because of this collective generosity, every child who came—from newborn to age 17—received a gift, and every household that came received a food bag.
Families from all walks of life came together for an evening of joy, connection, and celebration, the group said. Guests enjoyed Shrek the Halls, fun activities, snacks, and hot cocoa that kept everyone warm on a cool December night.
A special highlight was Santa Claus, who took time to speak with families one-on-one and pose for photos.
The group added a thank-you to the incredible volunteers from the Diversity Club at Richmond Hill High School for helping with setup, gift wrapping, refreshments, and more.
