Unity and Jazz event set for Saturday

Bryan County residents looking for an afternoon of entertainment can enjoy jazz, gospel and country music in J.F. Gregory Park on Saturday during the Jazz and Unity in the Park event.
From 1-6 p.m., locals can enjoy free entertainment from various bands at the amphitheater in the park, while also learning about organizations in the community, according to Craig Butts, owner of IM-Entertainment, the event’s sponsor.
“Jazz and Unity in the Park has three main goals — to provide a free, family-friendly event, to provide information about family services in the community and to provide a vision of unity for families here in Richmond Hill,” Butts said.
Butts said he is hopeful local police and fire departments will be on hand, as well as local representatives from the forestry department. Goodwill, United Way, South Coast Pediatrics and others will also be represented.
He said the event is “all about community outreach” and informing the community about what services Richmond Hill has to offer to families.
Butts said attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to the event. No food will be sold, but “families can bring food, obviously, just like them coming out and having a picnic,” he said.
