The Spring Education Forums that allow soldiers, family members and educators to articulate discuss the education of military connected students, have been set on both Hunter Army Airfield and Fort Stewart early next month.
The forums emphasize special education.
Hunter's forum will be from 9 a.m.-noon April 5 at Hunter Club. It will also highlight recent partnerships between Hunter and the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.
The forum will include a presentation from the Savannah-Chatham schools' Department of Exceptional Children, followed by a question and answer session. It also will include a presentation on programs backed by the Department of Defense for military students.

The forum on Fort Stewart will be from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. April 18 in the Club Stewart Ballroom.
The forum focuses on students enrolled in public and DODEA schools. Parents are needed to discuss issues and possible solutions in discussion groups. Those interested in being a delegate should contact the School Liaison Office at 767-6533.

Scream ‘n' Shout coming
Scream 'n' Shout "Kidz With Character," an elementary school assembly, is coming to Newman Fitness Center at 6 p.m. April 19 and at 6 p.m. April 20 at Tominac Fitness Center.
The show incorporates music, movement, magic and lots of fun to motivate and inspire children, 5-12, to become respectful, reliable, responsible and caring.
The cost is $5 per family. Tickets may be purchased at the Stewart/Hunter Leisure Travel offices or at the door. At Stewart, Leisure Travel is in the PX Furniture Mall Complex and the phone number is 767-2841. At Hunter, Leisure Travel is in the Soldier Services Center, call 315-3674.

Georgia Pre-K signups
Registration for the Georgia Pre-K Lottery for the 2012-13 school year on Fort Stewart and Hunter will close April 4.
Registration forms are available at each of the CDCs. The registration and birth certificate must be turned in before the child's name can be placed in the lottery.
To qualify, a child must be 4 years old no later than Sept.1.

Easter brunch
Easter brunch will be served at Club Stewart from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. April 8.
The menu will include breakfast items as well as salad station, brown sugar glazed ham, citrus glazed Cornish hens, beef burgundy with pearl onions, sweet potato soufflé, fresh green bean almondine, roasted rosemary, new potatoes, roasted corn with sweet peppers, peach and cheese crepes, chocolate fountain, dessert station and mimosas.
Advance tickets cost $12.95 for adults and $6.45 for children, 5-10. At the door, the cost will be $14.95 for adults and $7.45 for children 5-10 years. Children 4 and younger are free.

Toddler Easter egg hunt
Bring your toddler to the Easter egg hunt just for toddlers up to age 5 on April 9 at Cypress Creek. The activity is free and will begin at 10 a.m. It will end when all the eggs are found.

Guest readers at Hays Library
A special guest will read to children up to the age of 12 for National Library Week in the Children's Room at George P. Hays Library, from 4-5 p.m. April 11. There is no charge. For more information, call 767-2828.
Catch-and-release tournament
A catch-and-release bass tournament will be held April 14 at Pineview Lake on Fort Stewart. All are invited.
Fishermen may launch at first light (about 6:30 a.m.) and present their catch for the weigh-in at 11 a.m. Cash prizes, based on the number of participants, will be awarded for first through fifth places, largest fish and youth category.
Winners will be determined by total weight of a five-fish maximum.
Early bird registration will continue through April 5. The cost is $15 for soldiers, retirees, family members and all youth 16 and younger. The early bird fee is $30 for civilians. An additional $5 charge will be added for registration April 6-13.

The cost to register on the day of the event will be $30 for soldiers, retirees, family members and youth, and $40 for civilians.
Boat rentals will be available at Holbrook Equipment Rental Center to valid ID cardholders only. Renters must present a boater safety card, available free through www.boatus.com.
Wild Adventures trip
Join Leisure Travel for a trip to Wild Adventure Water & Theme Park in Valdosta on April 14. Registration will be accepted until April 12.
Wild Adventures has dozens of rides and Splash Island Water Park. Animal exhibits are located in several areas of the park, with opportunities for animal interaction throughout the day.

Operation Purple Camps
Applications for Operation Purple Camps are available through the National Military Family Association website.
The program is to give military children, ages 7-17, the tools to help deal with the stresses that result from a parent's deployment. Priority will be given to children whose parents are deployed between Sept. 11 and Dec. 12 and who have not been to one of the camps.

According to the website, the camps are "a time for having fun, making friends, and reminding military kids that they are the nation's youngest heroes." The camps are during the summer.
Newman offers fitness classes
Sign up now for group fitness classes at Newman Fitness Center.
Classes include kickboxing, steps, zumba, spinning, extreme, abs and water fitness. All are tailored to suit various fitness levels and needs. Child care is offered through CYSS Kids on Site.
Classes cost $3, except pilates, which costs $10 per class or $45 monthly. Ask about a $25 pass for admission to 10 classes.
