Childcare space available

Childcare service is available on Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. As of Aug. 9, available spaces at Fort Stewart were four infant, 37 pre-toddlers, 28 toddlers and 55 pre-school.

Schools are back in session and the School Age Center offers before- and after-school care. There are 49 spaces before- and 37 spaces after-school.

On Hunter, space available is 0 infant, 28 pre-toddlers, 19 toddlers and 42 pre-school. Also, there are 34 before-school spaces and 83 after.

Company flag football

Registration for Company Level Flag Football League play, Aug. 27-Nov. 15 at Bennett Sports Complex.

Here’s a chance to prove who has the best team and company in the 3rd ID. There’s no charge.

Companies interested need to submit a memo to the Sports Office in the complex or call 767-8238. Registration closes Wednesday.

 

Jacksonville Jaguars tickets

Tickets for 2012 home games of the Jacksonville Jaguars are on sale at Leisure Travel Services at Stewart, inside AAFES PX Furniture Mall and on Hunter.

Home opponents are the Giants on Aug. 10, Falcons on Aug. 30, Texans on Sept. 16, Bengals on Sept. 30, Bears on Oct. 7, Lions on Nov. 4, Colts on Nov. 8, Titans on Nov. 25, Jets on Dec. 9 and Patriots on Dec. 23.

GC’s Golf Scramble

The Garrison Commander’s 4-Person Golf Scramble at Taylors Creek Golf Course will begin at 1 p.m. Aug. 24.

The cost is $25 for active duty, military retirees, Army civilians and golf club members and civilian guests. The registration deadline is Aug. 22 or when the first 25 four-person teams sign up.

Lifting competition

Newman Fitness Center will hold “The Rock” Powerlifting and Bench Press Competition for men and women Aug. 25. Weigh-in begins at 8 a.m. and the competition at 10 a.m.

Contestants will be placed into one of 12 weight classes, and must complete all three lifts (bench press, squat and dead lift) to qualify for an award. Each competitor will get three lifts per event. Thetop three lifts will be combined to determine a contestant’s final place.  

Awards will be presented using the Schwartz-Malone Power Lifting formula.

Family night at Stewart Lanes

Sportsmen use their pass number to log in, rather than the nine-digit number previously used.
