Italian, then Mexican favorites at Thunder Run
Hungry for spaghetti? Italian favorites are on the menu Wednesday at Thunder Run. Next week, Sept. 7's menu is Mexican at Club Stewart's restaurant.
Thunder Run began offering rotating, themed menus on Wednesdays catering to a variety of tastes on Aug. 10.
Serving is every Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.in Thunder Run. The cost is $9.95 per adult and half-price for children ages 5-10. There is no charge for children 4 and under.

"Get Fit ... Be Strong" Boot Camp
Registration for the upcoming CYSS "Get Fit ... Be Strong" Boot Camp remains open through Friday. There is no charge.
This challenging training has been designed to increase strength, endurance, flexibility and confidence in youth ages 11-18.
The camp will take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Sept. 6-29 at the Fort Stewart Youth Sports Baseball Complex.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate with their youth.

Hispanic Heritage Month at Hays Library
Children under the age of 12 will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with stories and crafts from 4-5 p.m. Sept. 7 at George P. Hays Library. There's no charge.

Youth Action Council Facebook meeting
A Youth Action Council Meeting featuring interaction on Facebook will be from 5-6 p.m. Sept. 8.
The primary discussion will be "Teens and their consumer needs on Fort Stewart." Fort Stewart's AAFES PX manager and representatives from other post agencies will address questions concerning quality of life issues affecting teens here.
The YAC Facebook meeting is open only to military-connected teens whose parents are stationed at Fort Stewart.

Marne Lanes' 9-pin, No Tap Tourney
A 9-pin No Tap Tournament is coming to Marne Lanes Bowling Center, starting on Sept. 10, from 7:30-10 p.m.
The competition is scheduled for the first Saturday of each month, giving bowlers a chance to win as much as $500. The launch had been scheduled for Sept. 3, but was changed because of Labor Day.
A portion of every $20 entry fee goes toward a 300 jackpot, which is currently up to $500.
Knock down nine pins and it is considered a strike in this high-scoring event. Bowl two nine-pin, no-tap 300s or one real perfect game to take home the jackpot. The tournament consists of two average brackets: 165 and up/164 and below. Pay-out for the tournament is a 5:1 ratio.

Youth Sponsorship Trawling on the Bull
Find out what lives on the bottom of the Bull River in Savannah by joining Child, Youth and School Services in a Youth Sponsorship Trawling on the Bull Trip on Sept. 10. The free trip is open to CYSS-registered youth, in grades, 4-12.
The trip provides an excellent opportunity for youth to make new friends and learn about marine wildlife, including dolphins. Participants will leave Fort Stewart at 9:30 a.m. and from Hunter at 10:30 a.m. for Bull River Marina.
Registration closes on Sept. 8. Register at either the Stewart or Hunter Parent Central Services offices. There is a $5 fee for no-shows and for any cancellations after Sept. 8.

Beat the Golf Pros at Hunter/Stewart
Do you and your golfing buddies have the skill to beat the pros at Taylors Creek Golf Course and Hunter Golf Club? You'll get your chance on Sept. 10 at Hunter and Sept. 24 at Taylors Creek.
Here's the format: two golf pros and a staff member from Taylors Creek and Hunter will challenge any four-person team in a "scramble" or "captain's choice" format.
All challengers will pay their respective greens fee - golf car free - with an additional $20 to be placed into the event. For every team that beats the pros, the event purse will be divided by the number of winners.
Tee time is 7:30 a.m. for the Sept. 10 Hunter challenge, registration accepted until Sept. 9. For more information, call 912-315-9115.

Home school meet and greet potluck
Want to know more about home schooling your children or how to get involved in a home school support group? If so, come to the home school meet and greet potluck from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sept. 14 at the Fort Stewart Youth Center.

Hunter GC Golf Scramble
The Hunter Garrison Commander's 4-person Golf Scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Sept. 16 at Hunter Golf Club. The event will accept the first 25 four-person teams. Register your team by Sept. 14.
The cost is $35 for Taylors Creek and Hunter Golf Club members, active duty, retirees and Army civilians, $45 for civilian guests.

Top of the Rock 5K Fun Run
The Top of the Rock Run, a fall tradition on Fort Stewart, has a new name and a new format for 2011.
This year, it's the "Top of the Rock 5K Fun Run," and it's structured to give soldiers, their families and friends an opportunity to run together for fun. There is no charge.
The run will begin at 8 a.m. Sept. 17 between the Quick Track and Newman Fitness Center. Children in strollers are welcome.
Water stations will be set up. A timer will be set up at the finish line.
Registration can be completed at the race beginning at 6 a.m. and ending at 7:45 a.m. For more information, call 767-8326.

Big Buck Contest sign-up under way
Register now for a chance to win cash for the largest buck harvested on Fort Stewart or Hunter Army Airfield. Registration will continue until Oct. 21.
Early bird registration fees are in effect until Sept. 9 and are $25 for active duty, retired and family members, and $35 for civilians. The fees go up $5 on Sept. 10.
All deer harvested must be turned in to the Fish & Wildlife Branch, during their operating hours, for scoring.

Managed deer hunts
Outdoor Recreation will conduct two managed hunts this season in the Delta Range Complex footprint.
The first will be on Oct. 29. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. Oct 17. Registration opens Sept. 1.
Active duty soldiers stationed at Fort Stewart and retirees may apply. Total slots available for each hunt is 50, with 10 percent being offered to retirees.
Applications will be taken at Pass & Permit Offices on Fort Stewart and Hunter.
Individuals will have the opportunity to take part in both a morning and afternoon hunt, with lunch provided. Game check and cleaning station will be provided by Fish and Wildlife. A $10 fee per hunter will be charged and is payable upon selection for the hunt. Assistance also is provided by DES game wardens.
A lottery will choose the 50 hunters.
Another managed deer hunt will be on Dec. 20, with a registration deadline of 5 p.m. Nov 28.
