BBQ cooks sought for competition

The Hinesville Area Arts Council is accepting applications for barbecue connoisseurs to compete at the 11th annual Blues & BBQ Festival, set for 4-11 p.m. Sept. 20.
The barbecue competition includes categories for best pork, best chicken, best ribs and people’s choice.  The first- and second-place winners in each category will receive cash prizes and trophies or certificates, and the overall winner will receive a $200 cash prize.  
The entry fee for the barbecue contest is $25.
Contestants also may apply to be vendors to sell barbecue throughout the evening. To be eligible for selection as a vendor, the applicant must enter at least one category in the contest.
Vendor fees begin at $50 if submitted by Aug. 8, $75 by Aug. 29 and $100 by Sept. 15. Applications will not be accepted after Sept. 15.
