Pvt. Samuel Groover recently completed a 14-week infantry training at Ft. Benning, Ga, Home of the Infantry. He was in the Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 19 Infantry Regiment.
As these young soldiers join units all over the world, they will continue the proud, glorious tradition and hold the torch high for America’s defense.
A Turning Blue ceremony and graduation was held for the infantrymen. Family members attending were parents, Sammy and Donna Groover, and sisters and brothers, Ashley, Laura, Anna, Katelyn, Daniel and Joshua, all of Appling, GA; grandparents, Carole and Thurmond Groover of Ellabell; aunt and uncle, Nancy and Alan Shuman, with their children, Taylor and James, all of Pembroke; and great aunts, Leola Crawford and Verdia White.
Groover is now stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He is the great-grandson of the late Daniel and Bonnie Groover and Harvey and Lottie Howell, all of Blackshear.
