Greg Gillespie, left, Jessica Copenhaver, Friddrich Sedlak, Sharla Taylor, Marcia Gillespie, Zach Gillespie and Ben Gillespie during a book-signing event for the “Is the American Dream a Farce?” on Sept. 29 at the Ice Cream Stop in Richmond Hill.

Taylor, an 18-year-old student at Armstrong Atlantic State University, said the book’s inspiration came from interviews he held in Savannah for a video contest, in which he asked “What does the American dream mean to you?” and the majority response was uncertainty of the ability to obtain the American dream.
