Natalie Brown of Richmond Hill completed her Silver Award for Girl Scouts earlier this summer.
Her project was to make a lending library of books for all ages for each battalion of 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart.
She organized a book drive, and with the help of the deployed military kids' group at Richmond Hill Middle School , she collected books that were donated by the students from the school in May.
She cleaned, sorted, organized and labeled each book for the different battalions, making sure to put an extra label on books not suitable for young children.
She made a sign in/out log for each library. Each of the six battalions and the Headquarters Company of 2nd Brigade received three boxes of books.
The Silver Award is the second highest award Girl Scouts has to offer. She has earned the Bronze Award as a Junior Scout and the Silver Award as a Cadette Scout.
