The Lord knows time flies on Earth

In the last few days, several people have mentioned to me that they can’t believe we are already into November; which means Thanksgiving is upon us and Christmas is just around the corner.

Time does seem to fly by us without any indication that it will be slowing down any time soon. My mother used to tell me that the older I get, time will seem to go by faster — which I have found out to be true.

I was thinking the other day that someone has stolen around 20 years from me because it was just yesterday that I was 35 years old.

The Scriptures reveal the fact that life is short and goes by quickly. In Psalm 39:5, it reads, “Each man’s life is but a breath,” and in James 4:14, it answers the question “What is your life?” by saying, “You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

The real issue is not that our life here on Earth goes by quickly, but that first we need to be ready spiritually to go into the next life, and secondly, that we realize we only have a short time to make a difference in our world.
