Remember, the most important thing is Gods plan
pastor corner

Life gets busy sometimes, and it is easy to forget to think of the important things.
A person gets so caught up in urgent things that the important things get pushed aside, or at least on the back burner of the mind. The most important thing that suffers in the lives of many is the spiritual side of life. With work, family, some form of recreation and other day-to-day things, God may not have the place he should have in a person’s life (Matthew 6:33).
If one takes the time to think of spiritual things, they must think about the uncertainty of life. “Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away” (James 4:14).
Death is certain (Hebrews 9:27). Life shows us this fact. It matters not the great plans we may lay for the future; death can come when we least expect it. Some work to avoid death to the best of their abilities. They exercise daily, see their doctors on a regular basis and work to keep as young as possible — but they die anyway. Sadly, they may have spent so much time trying to avoid death, they forgot to prepare for its coming.
Mankind needs to realize the importance and value of their souls. In Matthew 18, Jesus talks of the shepherd who has a lost sheep and how he goes to retrieve the lamb. Then he said, “Even so, it is not the will of your Father, which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish” (Matthew 18:14). To God, every soul is important. One must realize importance of the soul and take as much care to prepare the next life as they do trying to stay alive in this life.
God has blessed man with the time now to prepare for eternal life. It is up to man to take advantage of this blessing. Mankind must have the proper disposition toward the word of God. When it is read, it should be read even as Nehemiah had it read: “So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading” (Nehemiah 8:8).
The Bible is not to be worshipped as if it was an idol, but it should be respected as the word of God. One should be eager to read and study God’s book. Everything God has done for man is for man’s good. God has given man a place to live and the ability to live, work and enjoy life. God also has provided for man’s spiritual well-being so that man can know he is in a right relationship with God.
However, this relationship is according to God’s plan and not man’s.
A person should be as excited at the thought of spending eternity in heaven as they are of living this life. Paul wrote, “For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ, which is far better …” (Philippians 1:23). Imagine being torn between continuing to live on Earth or to live on in heaven.
To prepare for eternity, a person must turn to God and study and obey his word. Believe in Jesus as God’s Son, repent of their sins, confess Jesus as God’s Son, be baptized for the remission of sins and remain faithful to God.
Keeping the body healthy is a good thing, but keeping the soul healthy should be thought of as far more important.
