Only trusting Jesus answers spiritual need

The Bible is very clear that every human being is born a sinner.

Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” It also reminds us that if the sin problem is not dealt with, then there are consequences. Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death.”

So, what does a person do about this problem? Many try things that don’t work, like attempting to be good, or trying to do more good deeds or getting more involved in more spiritual activities. These are just not good enough to take care of such a deep seated problem.

I was reminded of this the other day when trying to get some stains off of a door. I tried some generic all-purpose cleaner that promised to “cut through grease and grime” but didn’t work at all. I then applied a more expensive main brand cleaner and it removed the stains immediately.

The Bible teaches us that only through trusting in Jesus will we meet our deep-seated spiritual need. His sacrifice provided what is necessary for our forgiveness. Jesus is our gift from God so that we can go to heaven after this life is over.

Romans 6:23 goes on to say, “but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
