Let's be thankful for the rain

As I am writing this article, it has been raining cats and dogs (actually, I just saw a Siamese kitten and a poodle fall onto the lawn).

Most of the time when it rains, we humans complain – even in times of drought.

What amazes me is that radio and television personalities will make comments like, "We need to pray it doesn’t rain," because of this or that event being planned. Although, we probably all have said it.

We need to understand that the right thing to do is to thank the Lord for both the sunshine and the rain because they both are needed. James 1:17 reminds us that, "Every good and perfect gift is from above."

Rain can come to us in more ways than water drops. It can refer to challenging times. God knows what he is doing when he allows it to come our way.

Romans 8:28 tells us that, "We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

It may not be enjoyable and we may not understand at the time why things are happening the way they are, but later on we see the fruit produced in our lives.

So the next time it rains, give praise to the one who is looking out for our best interest.
