Christ's sacrifice is part of every season

More people think about Jesus this time of year than at any other. You hear people say “He is the reason for the season.” The thing is he is the reason for all the seasons.
“In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men” (John 1:1–4).
The virgin birth of Jesus is one of the cardinal points of Christianity. Man has taken this happening and made a holiday out of it. If the facts of Jesus’ birth are studied carefully, it is easy to see the way man has put his ideas into its happening, and perhaps that is why only at this time of year so many talk about Jesus. The rest of the year they seldom mention God or Jesus or what they have done for man.
God, in his word, teaches that what mankind needs to remember is that he gave his son to die for its sins, and that sacrifice can save mankind if it obeys the Gospel. The fact that God sent his son for man should cause us to think about Jesus all the time, not just a couple times a year.
Christ’s sacrifice caused him to suffer humiliation and pain. The savior of mankind was subjected to illegal trials, mocking, beatings, being spit on and finally being crucified on the cross. He was tried by Jewish and Roman. Pilate, who could have set Christ free, chose to please the crowds rather than release one who was innocent of all the charges made against him. All these things Christ endured to be the sacrifice for mankind. Realizing what a sacrifice was made for mankind should cause us to want to take advantage of the salvation offered to us by God and to live by his word all the time. Perhaps the gruesomeness of his death shows us why God wants this event remembered each day.
Remembrance of the Lord’s death is to be done each week by partaking of the Lord’s Supper. Paul wrote, “For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus, the same night in which he was betrayed, took bread. And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, ‘Take, eat. This is my body, which is broken for you. This do in remembrance of me.’ After the same manner also he took the cup when he had supped, saying, ‘This cup is the new testament in my blood. This do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.’ For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till he come” (1 Corinthians 11:23–26). Some think partaking of this memorial each week makes it less important. To true children of God, it is important and puts their minds and hearts back at the cross, witnessing by faith the death of the savior, the sacrifice of God for all mankind.
The sacrifice should be in the mind of man every day, every season, and not just one. God does love mankind and wants man to be saved, but he leaves that decision up to the individual. God allows man to make the choice of following him or not. If man wants to follow God and be saved, he must have faith that Jesus is the son of God (Romans 10:17). He must repent of his sins (Luke 13:3). He must confess Jesus is God’s son before men (Romans 10:10) and then be baptized for the remission of his sins (Acts 2:38). Then the person must live a faithful life (Revelation 2:10).
Knowing God sent his son, we must follow his teaching for one day judgment will come (John 5:28-29). Remember God’s sacrifice, and follow God every day.
