Richmond Hill Montessori is one of 48 recipients of grant money designed to invest in community partnerships that support efforts to improve early language and literacy development in Georgia.

The Early Language and Literacy Mini-Grant Program, a collaboration between the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement and the Sandra Dunagan Deal Center for Early Language and Literacy at Georgia College, invests in literacy efforts for children.

Richmond Hill Montessori, one of only three private preschools to receive the grant, will get almost $20,000 for its “Bright Beginnings Literacy Project.” The program will train teachers of infant, toddler, preschool and Pre-K classrooms how to increase the level and quality of their students’ vocabulary.

The school will also work with Bryan County Family Connection and the Richmond Hill Public Library to provide families with information and resources to further build children’s literacy skills in the home.
