Dr. Linda M. Bleicken  officially will be inaugurated as Armstrong Atlantic State University’s seventh president at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, in the Armstrong Fine Arts Auditorium. The date has a special significance for the institution, as it marked the first day of classes at the historic Armstrong House in 1935.
University System of Georgia Chancellor Erroll B. Davis, Board of Regents dignitaries and presidents from USG institutions across the state will attend.
The event will include a procession on campus by faculty in full academic regalia representing different colleges within the university.
Events commemorating Bleicken’s inauguration and Armstrong’s 75th anniversary in 2010 will span three days, including a “75th Notables Reception” on Thursday, Sept. 16 to honor prominent alumni from around the country and a student-driven day of service on Saturday, Sept. 18.
