Wildcats top-seeded in 3-AAAAA baseball tourney

Richmond Hill High School is the No. 1 seed heading in to the Region 3-AAAAA playoffs today. The Wildcats (16-5, 11-1) will play host to Glynn Academy (11-9, 4-8) in a best-of-three series starting with a doubleheader today at Wildcat Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
The Wildcats feature a number of the region’s top performers, according to stats on maxpreps.com. Justin Henle leads 3-AAAAA in hitting with a .550 batting average, slugging percentage (.725) and on-base percentage (.647). Other Wildcats near or at the top of 3-AAAAA in individual statistical categories are Brennan Jamar, Chaise Parker, Chris Sewell, Brian Eichorn and Kyle Luigs.
Jamar is third in batting (.447), fourth in slugging percentage (.553), second in RBIs (17), third in runs (17) and third in on-base percentage (.509). Parker is fourth in hitting (.400). Sewell is fifth in stolen bases (six). Eichorn leads the region in earned-run average (0.75), while Luigs is second (2.52).
Eichorn also has two wins, which ties him for second in the region with Coffee’s Will Souther.

Signings planned
Richmond Hill High School has announced several signings will be held later this week and early next week.
RHHS football players Hayden Gorsuch (OL), Caleb Branham (OL) and punter Johnathan Hartley Seale will sign at a ceremony at
3 p.m. Friday at the school’s LINK media center. Gorsuch is heading to Kentucky Christian, Branham is bound for Shorter and Harley Seale will go to North Carolina Wesleyan.
RHHS girls’ soccer player Casey Qua will sign with Brenau University during a ceremony at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, April 23, at the school’s LINK media center.
