Richmond Hill High School fell, 5-4, to visiting Statesboro in a nonregion baseball game Saturday at Wildcat Field.
The Wildcats (10-12) outhit the Blue Devils, 12-7, but couldn’t overcome a pair of errors and left eight runners on base in the last three innings.
Statesboro (13-8) scored all five runs in the first four innings. Richmond Hill scored a run in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings but twice left the bases loaded.
This was the Wildcats’ fourth one-run game in the last five contests.
Justin Henle went 2-for-3 with two RBI, Chandler Newman was 2 for 4 and scored two and Michael Teston and Brian Eichorn each had a pair of hits for Richmond Hill.
On Friday, the Wildcats continued their Region 3-AAAAA dominance with a 10-0 win over Windsor Forest to improve to 9-2 in the region.
Randy Giles got the win for the Wildcats, as four RHHS pitchers held the Knights to just three hits while striking out seven.
Chaise Parker was 2 for 2 and drove in three runs,  Henle and Dominic Montalto were both 2 for 4 for the Wildcats, who lead the region by a half-game over Ware County.
The Wildcats played host to Glynn Academy (13-7, 8-3) on Tuesday. Richmond Hill faces Ware (13-5-1, 8-2) at 7 p.m. Friday at Wildcat Field, then plays host to Jenkins at 1 p.m. Saturday.
