Wildcats, Lady 'Cats going to state

Richmond Hill High School’s boys’ basketball team will be a No. 3 seed in the Class AAAAAA tournament, which gets under way this weekend.

The Wildcats (20-6) take on Jonesboro (22-5), the No. 2 seed from Region 4-AAAAAA, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Jonesboro won the Class AAAA championship in 2014 and 2015 and lost in the title game to Liberty County last year.

Richmond Hill knocked off Glynn Academy 75-71 on Friday to secure the third seed, but will travel in the first round of the playoffs.

So will the Lady Wildcats (12-15), who squeaked past Bradwell Institute 37-34 on Friday to earn the No. 3 seed from 2-AAAAAA.

The Richmond Hill girls play at Lovejoy, the No. 2 seed from Region 4-AAAAAA.

That game is set for 6 p.m. Friday.
