Wildcats host baseball tournament this weekend

The Richmond Hill High School Wildcats host a big two-day tournament “Coastal Georgia Invite” Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13-14. Several GHSA previous state baseball championship teams are playing.


The schedule:

Fri., 2/13. 3 pm-Carrollton HS vs. Lowndes HS

5:30-Etowah HS vs. IMG Bradenton, Fla.

8 pm-Grayson HS vs. RHHS


Sat., 2/14.11 am-IMG vs. Lowndes HS

1:30 pm-Etowah HS vs. Ware Co. HS

4 pm-Etowah HS vs. RHHS


Last Tuesday, Richmond Hill faced three-time GHSA State Baseball Champion, the Benedictine Cadets, at new Wildcat Field. 

Shane Tucker and Tyler Price each had two hits, and drove in a run. Grant Wagner had a homerun blast in the first, and after a couple of walks, the Cats added three more runs to put up four in the 1first inning. 

Grant’s homer was the first at the new field.

Jax Pursley drove in two runs, and had a hit also. The Cats added three more runs on three hits in the third which sealed the win for the Wildcats, 8-4.

 Hernandez-Gambill and Burse each had a homer for the Cadets. Wildcat catcher, Bryce Smith, turned a big double-play in the seventh inning to seal the win and send BC home. 

The Cats are now 1-1.  The Calvary game last Friday, was considered a scrimmage.
