Wildcats fall to Cadets Tuesday night

Despite leading by as many as 4 runs, Richmond Hill fell to the Benedictine Cadets 6-5 on Tuesday. RHHS lost despite out-hitting BC 11 to 6. Joey Succi, Braxton Helsel, Grant Wagner, and Gage Witham each collected 2 hits apiece for the Cats. 

Richmond Hill got on the board in the 1st inning after Wagner hit a solo home run to left field. The Cats added 1 run in the 3rd after Wagner grounded out.

Witham hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the 4th for the Wildcats. Benedictine flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the 5th, scoring 6 runs on 4 hits to take the lead, 6-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a grand slam to right field by Landen Harris that drove in four. Harris earned the win for BC. David Willis took the loss for the Wildcats. The starting pitcher went 4 innings, surrendering 6 runs on 5 hits, striking out 1 and walking 1. Ridge Reddick opened the game for BC. The righty surrendered 6 hits and 3 runs over 4 innings, striking out 6 and walking 2. The Cats piled up 11 hits in the game. Wagner provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Richmond Hill with 2 runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. The Cats turned 1 double play in the game.

Harris provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led BC with 4 runs batted in. The center fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Omari Burse set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading BC with 2 hits in 4 at bats. BC also turned 1 double play in the game.

The Cats next game is today at Greenbrier High School.
