The Wildcats traveled to Evans, Ga. Wednesday, and got into a slugfest with Greenbrier High School.
If you enjoy an offensive game, Terry Holder Field was the place to be. The Wolfpack (6-1) put up 7 runs in the 3rd inning to outscore the Cats (5-5), 13-9, and get the win.
The Cats scored 2 runs in the 1st inning, 3 in the 2nd, 3 in the 3rd, and 1 run in the 5th inning. Noah Stone went 2 for 4, scored a run, and drove in a run. Gage Witham went 2 for 3, scored a run, and drove in a run. Shortstop Bryson Helsel went 2 for 4, scored twice, drove in a run, and swiped 3 bases. Grant Wagner drove in 2 runs, and hit another homer. Joey Succi went 1 for 2, scored a run, and walked twice.
The Cats collected 9 hits, drew 8 walks, and stole 7 bases. The Wolfpack scored 3 runs in the 1st inning, 7 in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th, and 1 run in the 5th inning. Jonathan White led Greenbrier’s 12-hit attack, going 3 for 3 with a homer, scoring 3 runs, and driving in 3 runs. Jace Granade also hit a 3-run homer for the Wolfpack. The Cats turned 2 double plays, despite committing 3 errors on the night.
The Wildcats play host to Coffee County Saturday at 1 p.m.
Then Tuesday, the Wildcats begin THE most significant part of the season, by traveling to Valdosta to take on (6-time, region #1 6A & 7A Champion, and 2023 & 2024 GHSA State Champion) Lowndes County at 5 p.m.
And Friday, March 6, the Wildcats host a doubleheader against Lowndes County (3-5), with 1st pitch set for 4 p.m.
