Soccer

Richmond Hill Soccer Club will hold tryouts for competitive travel soccer teams. U19 Comet girls - June 9 at 9 a.m. for high school age girls.

U14 girls June 9 at 10 a.m. for middle school age girls. Please contact 727-3127 for more information or if you plan to attend. U14 Raider boys tryouts will be June 12 and 13 at 6:30 p.m. This is for boys that have not yet turned 14 as of August 1. 11 and 12 year old boys interested in playing competitive travel soccer should come to this tryout also. A U13 team could be put together if enough inquiries are received. All tryouts will be held at the elementary school fields. Contact 727-3127 or rhrasoccer@comcast.net for more information. Golf tourney

A golf tournament to benefit the new Coastal Power Richmond Hill travel softball teams will take place June 2 at LaVida Country Club in Savannah. All the proceeds will go toward uniforms, travel and other expenses of the U10 and U12 teams. Cost is $260 per team or $65 single. Prizes will be given to the top three teams and there are many other prize opportunities, including a $10,000 hole-in-one prize. Camp

The annual Jimmy Hires basketball camp is slated for June 16-20, with a separate session to take place June 23-27.

Fishing derby

The Richmond Hill Exchange Club will hold its Eighteenth Annual Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 7 from 8:30 a.m.-noon at the Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery. Awards will be presented to children 12 and under. Members of the Georgia Masons will also be on hand to prepare identity kits for the parents of children participating in the tournament. Deadline

June 2 is the deadline for Richmond Hill High School football players to pay shorts and T-shirt dues. For parents interested in joining the Gridiron Club, $100 dues are due by July 10, which includes all pre-game meals. Call Brian Brocato at 756-4192 for additional information.
