After earning the right to compete at state with a second place regional finish on Halloween Day, the Lady Wildcat cross country team held their own against the best runners in the state of Georgia at the state meet in Carrolton on Nov. 10.

The Lady Cats placed 16th overall. Over top local finishers included St. Vincent's, 15th, and South Effingham, 18th.

"I’m real pleased with the effort the girls put forth at state and how well they’ve done this season," said Coach Jimmy Hires. "They were faced with adversity as the top runner (Glorili Alejandro) and another good runner (Alina Gonzalez) were out with injuries, but they still pulled off a second place spot for the region. All the girls competed well and I’m very proud of them."

The top seven runners from each competing school were allowed to run at state. Lindsey Vasher once again led the pack for the Cats in Carrolton. She placed 84th overall with a time of 23:09. The other Lady Cats were not far behind her. They finished in the following order: Gini Russell in 23:24, Anna Bausum in 23:28, Katie Berry in 24:06, Lauren Hall in 24:11, Azea Mustafa in 24:46 and Kaitlyn Uhlig in 24:49.
