Sports Roundup: Cats sweep BHS

Richmond Hill High School improved to 13-5 with a 41-33 win over visiting Brunswick in a girls’ Region 2-AAAAAA basketball game Tuesday.

The Lady Wildcats are 2-1 in the region. In the boys’ game, Richmond Hill fell 62-59 to the Pirates despite having four players in double figures.

Jaeden Marshall led the scoring with 14 points.

Sheldon Lewis, Ethan Pickett and Liam Markgraf added 10 points each for the Wildcats, who fell to 14-4.

The Pirates (11-6 overall) are tied with Effingham County for first place in the region. Richmond Hill (1-2 region) is third.

Both teams are back in action Friday at home against Bradwell Institute.

BCHS splits --

Bryan County High School’s girls basketball team beat Woodville- Tompkins 67-49 in Savannah Tuesday to improve to 13-3 overall and 7-1 in 2-AA.

The boys (0-16) remained winless after falling to the Wolverines. Bryan County plays host to Bacon County on Friday in a boys-girls doubleheader.

Wrestling -- 

Richmond Hill High School will compete this weekend in the Area dual tournament at Effingham County. The Wildcats are the favorites and have a number of wrestlers ranked in the top five by weight class in Class AAAAAA, including Jakeem Littles, Kamdyn Munro, Jackson Crawford, Kaleb Anderson, Nathan Furman, William Shores, Brandon Langley, Jonathan Gerlach, Tate Evans and Joe Fusile, according to rankwrestlers. com.

The tournament is Jan.10-11 at ECHS. It is followed by the state dual tournament Jan. 16-18 in Macon.
