Run for fun

The Richmond Hill Recreation Association will be hosting a "5k run for fun," on July 7 to kick off the Ol’ Time Family Festival and BBQ at JF Gregory Park. The festival will last all day and end with fire works at dark. Race time is 8 a.m., registration cost is $15 and includes a t-shirt for early registration.

This race will not be officially timed. For more information or to register please call 756-4075


Hendrix Park

The Hendrix Park Youth Recreation Association is now taking football and cheerleading Registration..

Ages: 6 (by Aug 1) through 12 years old for football and cheerleading.

The football registration fee is $75. The cheerleading fee is $100, which includes registration and uniform (if you cheered for football or basketball in 2006 and you can still wear your uniform the registration fee is only $25.00).

You can register Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Bryan County Recreation Department office at Hendrix Park 3960 Wilma Edwards Road in Ellabell. There will be a Saturday registration from 9 a.m.-noon on Aug. 18, 2007.

Boat carefully

The upcoming Fourth of July holiday is sure to be a busy one on Georgia's' lakes and waterways, and conservation rangers with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) will be out in full force to ensure the safety of everyone on the water. So far this year in Georgia, there have been 58 boating incidents resulting in

43 injuries and 9 boating incident-related fatalities in addition to 28 drownings on state waterways.

WRD Conservation Rangers have also issued 96 boating under the influence (BUI) citations statewide. Boaters are strongly encouraged to use good judgment and exercise caution on the water.
