Richmond Hill roughed up in scrimmage

KINGSLAND – The Richmond Hill Wildcats had a tough night in their preseason scrimmage, falling 55-0 to Camden County on Friday.


While Richmond Hill struggled all night on offense and defense, Camden County moved the ball at will and racked up eight touchdowns. RHHS trailed 35-0 in the second quarter.


Junior Brian Hughes led Richmond Hill rushers with 7 carries for 22 yards and senior Andre Walker had a team-high 4 catches for 8 yards.Senior quarterback Xavier Bryant-Long completed 7 of 10 passes for 19 yards.


Sophomore Sam James led the RHHS defense with 7 solo tackles, 3 assists and a forced fumble.


The Wildcats have three more weeks of preseason practice before their opener against Johnson Sept. 4 at home.


After the loss, first-year coach Matthew Lezotte challenged his team to “refocus” their efforts and asked them how they could serve the team better.
