For the second year in a row, the Richmond Hill Middle School Lady Wildcats basketball team has claimed a region title.

The team stepped onto the court in October for their first game of the season with a little apprehension and a great deal of enthusiasm, skill and determination. Following in the footsteps of the previous year’s undefeated region champions and with only two returning starters, the Lady Wildcats never let their coaches or school down. In the championship game the Lady Wildcats recently stepped on the court at William James Middle School in Statesboro to defend their region title against Langston Chapel. Defeated by Langston Chapel in the second game of the season, Coach Frieda Clark and the Lady Wildcats were determined to redeem themselves.

With the score tied in the last minutes of the game, the winning score came at the free throw line with just seconds remaining on the clock. With a score of 28-27, RHMS handed Langston Chapel their only defeat of the season.

Bailey Crawford, one of two returning players, said "it felt amazing to be on a team that had a new coach and only two people coming back from last year and go all the way to the championship."
