RHHS golf season ends

The season ended for the Wildcat golf team with the Cats placing seventh in the Region 3-AAA tournament.

Coach Alex Gray said team points leader Tyler Steptoe had a couple mishaps on some holes and finished with a score of 82.

"Tyler’s score does not denote how well he competed," Gray said. "He played hard. The big surprise was Parker Daniels. As I mentioned before, he has really been practicing hard. I told him repeatedly not to be nervous because his score probably would not matter. He ended up shooting better than two of the veteran golfers and we got to use his score (103) for the overall team score. I was very proud of him and the rest of the team."

This was Gray’s first year as golf coach, and he said it has been a fun and exciting season.

"This was a rebuilding year and we did just that," Gray said. "While some of the guys were building experience, a few of our stronger golfers, like Steptoe and Andrew Schaff, gave us enough points to win some matches. Next year should be a good one for Richmond Hill golf."
