Eighteen schools traveled to Groves High School this past weekend in order to participate in the annual Mark Toomey Open wrestling tournament. Although Richmond Hill did not make the overall top 10, several Wildcat wrestlers turned in strong individual performances.

Junior Jacob Fox finished fifth in the 152 pound weight class to lead the varsity squad.

The JV competition saw four Wildcats edge out most of their competition. David Yim finished second in his weight division. In JV heavyweight, Dylan Lyle finished fifth. David Carter finished fifth in the 189 pound weight class. Rounding out the top finishers was freshman Chris Costillo in the 119 division, winning two out of three of his matches. Next up for the Mat Cats is a competition today at South Effingham.
