RH wrestling team finishes second in state tourney

Richmond Hill finished as runner up Saturday in the Georgia High School Association’s Class AAAAAA team duals wrestling tournament in Macon.

The Wildcats fell to Pope, 30-24.

During the two-day tournament, Richmond Hill outwrestled Sequoyah 51-22, Coffee County 42-24 and Cambridge 43-21 to advance to the finals.

Richmond Hill High School boys improved to 18-4 overall and 3-2 in Region 2-AAAAAA basketball with a 45-41 win Tuesday over visiting Glynn Academy.

Jaeden Marshall led the Wildcats with 13 points while Leighton Finley had nine rebounds.

The Lady Wildcats fell 66-27 in the opener to the No. 5 ranked Lady Terrors, to drop to 14-8 overall and 2-3 in the region.

Richmond Hill plays host to Effingham County in a 2-AAAAAA game on Saturday.

Bryan County girls, ranked No. 10 in the latest Atlanta Journal Constitution girls’ Class AA basketball poll, improved to 18-3 after a 55-29 win over Jeff Davis. The Lady Redskins played host to Swainsboro on Tuesday night.

The Bryan County boys team is 0-20 after an 80-25 loss to Jeff Davis.

Bryan County plays a double header at Vidalia on Friday.
