Region tourneys set Wednesday

Richmond Hill High School played Effingham County on Wednesday night in the second-round of the Region 2-AAAAAA tournament , which is being hosted by RHHS.

The results from none of Wednesday games were available in time for this story.

The Wildcats (19-5) are the region’s top seed behind seniors Trey Deloach and Montest Bumpers, who are averaging 12.4 and 11.3 points per game, respectively.

Deloach is also the team’s leading rebounder with 7.4 boards an outing as well.

Bumpers is the team’s leaders in assists, with 2.7 per game, and steals, with 2.4 per game.

The Lady Wildcats (11-14) played Brunswick Wednesday night. Richmond Hill played its way into the tourney with a 33-28 win over Effingham County on Monday at RHHS.

Bryan County

Toombs County made Bryan County High School’s stay in the Region 2-AA boys’ basketball tournament a short one. The Bulldogs downed BCHS 61-56 on Tuesday night in Lyons.

The loss ended Bryan County’s season at 6-18 overall.

The Bryan County girls played Metter on Wednesday night in a second-round game. The Lady Redskins (19-4) are 2-AA’s No. 3 seed. Bryan County is led by senior Julianne Brown, who is averaging 20.9 points per game, freshman Olanna Rawls (11.7 points per game) and Yaz Crawford (11.2 points per game.
