Race winner finishes well ahead of pack

Jonathan Argyle set a blistering pace in Saturday’s Red Hot Chili Pepper 5K in Richmond Hill.

Argyle took first place with a time of 17 minutes, 12 seconds, nearly two minutes ahead of second-place finisher Mohammed Sankoh at 19:07.

The top women’s finisher was Kerry Dulina with a time of 21:49. The winner in the men’s masters category was Brendan Vasher, who ran the course in 19:38. The women’s masters winner was Libby Le Tourneau at 23:13.

The 5K, held in conjunction with the grand opening of the Georgia Game Changers Health and Fitness Complex, drew 143 runners.

The proceeds from the entry fees will benefit the Thornwell Home for Children, a ministry that provides homes for abused or neglected children in Georgia, Florida and South Carolina.
