Wildcats win 12U title

No other football team in the history of Richmond Hill has done what the 12U Wildcat team has done — bring home a state title.
The Hill’s first football state championship comes courtesy of a big win by the Wildcat team when they defeated Jeff Davis County 46-25 for the title in a hard fought contest Dec. 15, at the State GRPA Tournament in Screven County.
The season, which started in August, was long and coach Phil Jablonski knew he had to keep his team motivated in the days leading to the state playoffs.
“I had decided then that team needed to do something different,” said Jablonski. “We’ve been down this road and the outcome was not what we had hoped.”
So, with the help of his wife, Gina, who also served as team mom, he put together something a little different. As players arrived for practice, they were ushered off the field and inside where a surprise awaited.
