Wildcats take 28-12 scrimmage win

Richmond Hill High School opened the 2012 football season with a 28-12 preseason scrimmage win over South Effingham High School on Friday at Wildcat Stadium.

Senior quarterback Dominique Allen led the offense with 80 yards and three TDs on six carries.

Senior running David Katzman contributed 61 yards and three first downs on four carries. Junior quarterback Nick Fitzgerald added 33 yards rushing and a score of his own on a 36-yard scamper.

Senior kicker Canon Rooker hit all four extra point attempts.

The Wildcats sole pass completion went to senior wide receiver Hank Ferendo from Allen for 39 yards. 

The Wildcat defense was led by seniors Taylor Hayes and Zach Stegner, each with eight solo tackles and an assist.

Junior Darius Brown picked off aSouth Effinghampass in the end zone and returned it 26 yards ending a Mustangs scoring drive.

The Wildcats are idle next week and then open the regular season at home against Johnson on Aug. 31.
