In a Region 2A-AAAA matchup at Edo Miller Field in Brunswick, Kevin Matthews started on the mound for Richmond Hill and pitched six innings of no-hit baseball. Matthews walked five and struck out 13 and threw 113 pitches.
Billy Kilmer came in to pitch for RHHS in the bottom of the 7th and promptly struck out Chas Strickland. But Kilmer then gave up the first Brunswick hit to pinch-hitter Matt Bennett. Anthony Garner was hit by a pitch. With leadoff batter, Austin Brown at the plate, a wild pitch put the runners on 2nd and 3rd and Brown was intentionally walked to load the bases.
Ryan Good then hit a single down the left field line for the game winning run.
Nathan Harsh pitched a complete game shut-out for the Pirates. He had 11 hits while scattering four Richmond Hill singles.
Brunswick improved to 9-4 overall and 3-1 in the region.
Richmond Hill fell to 5-4 overall and 0-3 in 2A-AAAA play.
The Wildcats play their first home game in March today against the Benedictine Cadets at 1:30 p.m. at Wildcat Field.
