Wildcats, Lady Wildcats all over All-Region 2A-AAAA teams

Richmond Hill High School ended the 2012 prep soccer seasons as the Coastal Empire’s most successful Class AAAA teams.

The Lady Wildcats (15-6) earned a spot in the AAAA Elite Eight of the state tournament and finished ranked No. 10 in Class AAAA while the Wildcats (15-4) finished in the Sweet 16.

All that success didn’t go unnoticed.

The two squads landed a combined 15 players on the boys’ and girls’ All Region 2A-AAAA boys’ and girls’ teams voted on by coaches. And speaking of coaches, girls’ coach Steve Kollman and boys’ coach Robbie Flanders both netted coach of the year honors.

Taking co-Player of the year honors on their respective teams were Lady Wildcat forward Sarah Goolsby and Wildcat midfielder Justin Carrillo.

Girls’ All-Region 2A-AAAA selections: Sarah Goolsby, Kayla Taylor, Lisa Barnes, Marjan Mustafa, Lisa Bausum, Christina Pitt,. Honorable mention: Raechel Blitchington, Kaitlynn Martinson, Caroline Smith.

Boys’ All-Region 2A-AAAA picks: Jonathan Hatala, Joel Hesier, Juwan Gaul, Sean Marcolus, Justin Carrillo.
