Today is National Running Day
Now's a good time to commit to be fit

Each year, on the first Wednesday in June, runners everywhere celebrate National Running Day. Today is that day. Even if you are not a runner, it is a great day to consider your fitness level, and perhaps renew your personal commitment to fitness.

In my mind, it is a day that all of us can use to re-evaluate where we are in terms of our fitness goals that we set for ourselves, when we made our New Year’s Resolutions. Ah yes! Those things that we committed to achieving this year, those items we wrote down as 2012 began — with high hopes and expectations for making a difference in our lives and the lives of others.

The organizers of National Running Day, found at http://www.runningday.org, are all about promoting running as a way to staying fit. Their site offers many other suggestions about how make the day a special one not only for yourself, but also for others in your neighborhood. They also include multiple tips for new runners, as well "fast facts" about running in the US.
