Spring sports all-region teams announced

The Richmond Hill boys’ and girls’ soccer teams dominated the Region 2-AAAAAA all-region teams, including player of the year and coach of the year accolades. Both teams won region titles and reached the Elite Eight of the state tournament.

For the girls’ team, Makayla Nudo was named region player of the year and Steve Kollman received coach of the year honors. Joining Nudo on the all-region team are Grace Kiser, Logan Martin, Carly Vargas, Jada Carnine and Ruthie Riley.

For the boys’ team, Bryant Jackson was named co-player of the year and Robbie Flanders was named coach of the year. Jackson, Joseph Petrino, Roman Alvarez, Drew Crawford and Michael Hoffman were all-region.

Four Bryan County soccer players received post-season honors as all-region from Region 2-AA: Christian Thomas, Chance Oliver, Devon Hardy and Nathan Woods.

In baseball, Richmond Hill’s Mike Menhart was named Region 2-AAAAAA pitcher of the year. Shortstop Rick Mitchell and catcher Kip Gibson were named to the first team, while Braden Henle, Jackson Finley and Chris Sewell received honorable mention.

Bryan County’s Blake Joyce was second team all-region in Region 2-AA as designated hitter.

In tennis, Hannah Yontz and Cameron Pipes of Richmond Hill were named first team all-region in Region 2-AAAAAA.
