Lady Wildcats honored, Elliott sets new PR

Lady Wildcats feted

Four Richmond Hill High School varsity softball players earned postseason honors, it was announced Monday.

Amber Rivera and Sophia Lorimer both earned first-team All-Region 3-AAAA honors, while Cristy Davenport and Ciara Patrick were named to the All-Region second team.

Rivera, a junior shortstop and the team’s leadoff hitter, batted .388 and scored 27 runs with eight doubles while stealing 17 bases. Rivera’s slugging percentage was .657 and her on base percentage was .590. She had a .940 fielding percentage.

Lorimer, a junior catcher, hit .300 with 21 RBIs. She compiled a .484 on base percentage and had a .984 fielding percentage.

Davenport, a junior second baseman, hit .286 with 14 RBIs and 17 runs scored. Her on base percentage was .484 and her fielding percentage was .984.

Patrick, a junior outfielder, hit. .322 with 14 RBIs, 10 runs and a .443 on base percentage. She fielded .941 for the Lady Wildcats, who went 17-13 overall and 9-1 in the region and advanced to the state Class AAAAA playoffs.

Also announced were team awards, with Rivera winning the varsity Team>ME Teammate award and Lorimer earning the Wildcat Coaches Award.

Natalie Corbin won the JV Wildcat Coaches award and Jessica Kifferly won the JV Team>ME Teammate Award.

Elliott sets PR

Richmond Hill High School junior Amanda Elliott turned in a personal best time of 19:39 on Saturday at the Footlocker South Regionals in Charlotte, N.C.

Elliott, the area’s top girl cross country runner, finished sixth out of Georgia’s junior runners and 24th among juniors from the region.
