Lady Redskin sisters Brooke and Shelby Barfield combined to give up only three hits and allowed no runs in Bryan County’s 8-0 shutout over St. Vincent’s last week in a home game and Region 2-AA contest.
Brooke Barfield was awarded with the save on the mound, according to ga.prepcountry.com.
The Lady Redskins notched three runs in the first inning, added three more in the second and capped it off with two runs in the fourth to close the game early.
St. Vincent had four errors that the Lady Redskins used to their advantage.
Bryan County’s Logan Harrell was 3-for-3 with 2RBIs. Alyssa Edwards had 1 RBI, Layton Harrell went 2-of-3 with 1 RBI, Brooke Barfield was 2-of-4 with 1 RBI and Mindy Myers had an RBI in the game. Shelby Barfield kept the St. Vincent batter confused with a barrage of pitches tossing six strikeouts in the game.
The Bryan County girls are 8-5 overall and 2-3 in the region. They were scheduled to play Tuesday at Long County.
